(Opler, n.d.)

A mother butterfy lays tiny, round eggs on leaves or stems. The eggs hatch into caterpillars and they spend all their time eating. They grow quickly. As soon as a caterpillar is done growing and they have reached their full size, they form themselves into a pupa, also known as a chrysalis.

Inside of the pupa, the caterpillar is rapidly changing. After the caterpillar has finished changing, a butterfly comes out of its chrysalis. The butterfly rests a while and flies off.
